St. Colette Parish Center

Brunswick, OH

In 2017, St. Colette Catholic Parish partnered with John G. Johnson Construction (JGJ) to plan and budget for a comprehensive parish improvement initiative.

Phase 1 focused on renovating the sacristy and support spaces while upgrading the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as the roofing. Phase 2 introduced a new Parish Center but faced delays due to the pandemic and redesign requirements. To meet the City of Brunswick’s stormwater runoff standards, JGJ recommended a cost-effective retention pond, eliminating the need for expensive underground tanks.

Utility studies also revealed a pre-existing large water line, removing the need for replacement and reducing project costs. Additionally, opting for a pre-engineered metal building instead of traditional masonry saved over $1 million without compromising quality.

Construction on Phase 2 began in spring 2022 and successfully concluded in December 2022, delivering a modernized and cost-efficient facility for the parish community.
